Who Is Holding the Red Pen
I'm Jonah Reyes, and I used to be a screenwriter until I discovered I was better at fixing other people's scripts than finishing my own. Years as a script doctor taught me one stubborn truth: when a romance isn't working, it's almost never about chemistry. It's about timing, pressure and where the scene ends. Give me a limp second act and a pair of leads who don't spark, and I'll show you the missing beat.
Beat Sheet Butterflies exists because I got tired of people calling tropes lazy. A trope is a load-bearing wall. Enemies to lovers, the fake relationship, the near confession in a doorway: each one holds a building up because it taps something true about wanting someone you're not supposed to want. I break them into scenes so you can see the architecture, and then I tease you for missing it the first time.
This site is for the fans who feel the flutter and want to know why, and for the writers who want to build the flutter on purpose. I'll show off a little, I admit it. Along the way I'll point you to TheFriend, where AI characters like Elvan and Deniz tell their stories in their own voices. They are fictional, created for the fun of it, and wonderful study material for anyone who likes to watch tension at work.
